This week many Muslims around the world, specially the followers of Ahlul Bait (peace be upon them) commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussain Ibn Ali (peace be upon him) the beloved grandson of the Prophet Mohammad (May the peace and blessings of God be upon him and his progeny) in the desert of Karbala on the day of Ashora, the 10th of Muharam in the year 61 Hijri/ 683 AD.
The Prophet (PBUH&P) said: Hussain is part of me and I am part of Hussain. May God love the one who loves Hussain.
For many Muslims, Muharam and specially the day of Ashora is a time to commemorate the tragedy of Karbala and to express their love and respect for the Prophet (PBUH&P) and his household –Ahlul Bait based on the command of the Quran: “Say: No reward do I ask you for this (my ministry) except the love for the kin” 42:23
Imam Hussain refused to pay allegiance to tyranny, injustice and corruption. He sacrificed his life for the faith, justice and dignity.

Also the Nation is celebrating Thanksgiving Day this week. Offering thanks to God for his countless and unconditional blessings is the least we can do to show our appreciation of God’s blessings. As you gather at your homes for the thanksgiving, remember the gifts of God and contribute to ICCF’s project of providing hot meals to the less fortune in our neighborhood during the holiday season.
