ICCF To Commemorate 9/11, Saturday, September 10

The Islamic Cultural Center of Fresno will commemorate the 10th anniversary of 9/11 on Saturday, September 10 at 6:00 PM.

Keynote Speaker: Nancy Meyer
Ms. Meyer is the sister-in-law of Lauren Catuzzi Grandcolas who died on United Flight 93 and will represent the New York based group September 11th Families for a Peaceful Tomorrows.

Children’s Program:
* High school student, Talia Cherney will sing the National Anthem
* Children who will be releasing doves and sending a message for brighter and peaceful future.

Based on confirmed sighting of the new crescent moon in South America, the Islamic Center will celebrate Eid ul Fitr tomorrow Tuesday, August 30th.Join us for Eid Prayers, Takbeers will start AT 7:30 am, Eid prayer 8:00 AM and will be followed by community breakfast.

Valley Islamic leader talks about Ramadan

The Islamic holy month of Ramadan – the Muslims’ period of daily fasting from sunrise to sunset for 29 to 30 days – is just around the corner.

Ramadan begins each year the day after the first sighting of the crescent moon by the naked eye. is projecting the first sighting will be Sunday, which means Ramadan would start Monday.

Ramadan has evolved in the central San Joaquin Valley. Mosques hold community events throughout the month. The events feature meals to break the day’s fast together and speakers to address Ramadan and fasting.

The special gatherings will begin at the Islamic Cultural Center of Fresno with the “Ramadan Night of Spirituality” at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the center, which is at 2111 E. Nees Ave. And the Muslim youth organization My Deen will host “Iftar for Non-Muslim Friends and Family” at 7 p.m. next Saturday at its headquarters, 1306 W. Herndon Ave.
