Imam Seyed Ali Ghazvini is Taking His Sabbatical This Fall

Seyed Ali Ghazvini, the spiritual leader of the Islamic Cultural Center of Fresno (ICCF), will take a five month sabbatical to research, continue his education, and lead and attend some conferences and workshops.  However, the bulk of his time away from Fresno will be focusing on charity work in Iraq, his native home.

Imam Ghazvini is part of a charitable organization called Development and Relief Foundation (DRF) which serves women and children, refugees, and victims of violence.  They have built a hospital, an orphanage, and four schools in Iraq.

He has served the ICCF community since May 2004 and this is his first sabbatical.  He will be away from Fresno from mid-August until January 2015.  In his absence, his nephew Seyed Hadi Qazwini, an M.A. graduate in Islamic Leadership from Claremont Lincoln University, will lead the Friday afternoon prayers.

Information about DRF, and opportunities to help, can be found at their website:

Eid al-Fitr on Tuesday July 29th

Due to no credible sighting of the new moon anywhere in the world, tomorrow, Monday July 28th, will be the last day in Ramadhan and Tuesday July 29th will be the ‘Eid insha’Allah.

We will meet on Tuesday at 7:30AM at the ICCF for takbira, followed by Salaat ul-‘Eid and the ‘Eid Sermon at 8:00AM sharp. Afterwards we will share a potluck breakfast so please bring a dish to share with everyone. If there is meat in your dish, it must be dhabiha halaal.

Thank you.
