ICCF Condemns Terror Attacks

The Islamic Cultural Center of Fresno condemns all acts of violence and terror.

Today, we mourn many deaths and we pray for the families, friends, and communities of the victims of senseless acts of violence.

*In Kuwait, a suicide bombing claimed by ISIS took  the lives of 25 Shi’a worshippers at the Friday prayer service during Islam’s holiest month.  This is the latest in a string of attacks against Shi’a centers throughout the Middle East.

*In Tunisia, at least 37 people were massacred at a beach resort by a masked gunman.

*In France, a suspected Islamist decapitated his boss and pinned his head to an American-owned oil company and then ran his car into the building.

Dear community members and friends, statements like these and the attacks that prompt them are becoming far to often.  It was only a week ago that we had to send a similar condemnation of the Charleston Church attack.  Terrorism is a  serious global threat, whether it is racially or religiously motivated, or for the purpose of gaining geopolitical power. The world must come together to not only stand against extremism in all of its forms, but must also actively combat it.  We pray that our Administration, the Congress and the world leaders focus their efforts on combatting and eradicating the world of hatred and violent ideologies.

The Islamic Cultural Center of Fresno is doing its part to educate the community.

Please join us for a panel discussion on Wednesday, July 1st.

Participants include: Congressman Jim Costa, Police Chief Jerry Dyer, DA Lisa Smittcamp, FCOE Superintendent Jim Yovino, Fresno Supervisor Borgeas, Imam Seyed Ali Ghazvini, Rabbi Rick Winer, Rev. Norm Broadbent, and Dr. Vincent Biondo.
