A Discussion About Hate Crimes

Terror Knows No Religion

While the Muslim world gets ready this year for the ‘Eid celebrations to mark the end of the Holy Month of Ramadan, we do so with a heavy heart as smoke rises to the skies around the world from terrorist attacks.  We are reminded that terror knows no limits, has no country, and lives by no religion.  Victims of terrorism are of all walks of life and the greatest number of casualties, by far, are Muslims.  Those responsible for the attacks are not Muslim and not of any religion.  The news is heart wrenching each and every time and it is far too often.
Most Recently:
  • There was a suicide attack outside one of Islam’s holiest sites, at the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina where Prophet Muhammad is buried.
  • The City of Baghdad became victim to yet another bombing, this one killing almost 215 and wounding another 176.  In just the past few months in Baghdad, 13 suicide attacks have claimed the lives of more than 630 people.
  • In Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province, in a city named Qatif, a bombers explosive device detonated just before he was to enter a Shi’a mosque full of worshipers.
  • Earlier on Monday morning, two security officers were injured as a suicide bomber blew himself up near the United States consulate in the city of Jeddah.
  • Just two days earlier, ISISmilitants in Dhaka, Bangladesh, taking dozens hostage and killing 22 people.
  • Not even a week earlier, 42 people were killed in the attack on the Istanbul Airport.
  • And just a week before that, 10 were killed in a bombing in the Shi’a Holy City of Karbala, Iraq.
The Islamic Cultural Center of Fresno stands against terror, killing, and violence and urges our governments to work, united across political, religious and racial lines, to stand against these thugs and criminals who are out to destroy all of us.  Their hatred and violence does not discern differences between us.
We pray for the victims of violence, terror and oppression everywhere.
Terror knows no religion.
